The Chicago Bears made a splash with the acquisition of former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles. It appears both sides have already gotten to work on a new deal.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Foles has restructured his contract with the Bears:

Nick Foles already has restructred his contract with the Bears, per source. He still has three years left, still has $21 million guaranteed left, but Foles now has the ability to void the deal after either of the first two years depending on his performance. Deal includes upside.

Foles had earned himself a lucrative payday thanks to his heroics as the backup for the Philadelphia Eagles during their Super Bowl run. The Jacksonville Jaguars secured the Foles sweepstakes with a four-year contract worth $88 million prior to the 2019 NFL season.

Of course, Foles failed to provide the Jaguars with much bang for their buck in his debut year. He suffered a broken left clavicle in the season opener and was not Abel to make his return until Week 11. Even then, he was unable to find his footing after throwing for 736 yards three touchdowns and two interceptions in four games.

Despite Foles' struggles, the Bears still see him as an upgrade to quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. The fact that he was even willing to restructure his lucrative deal shows just how willing he was to make it work.

This should allow them to shore up some extra cap space to work with in free agency as they look to get back on track for the 2019 NFL season.
