From the looks of it, Nick Foles is geared up for his Bears journey.

In a video conference on Friday, head coach Matt Nagy revealed Foles’ ability to immediately master Chicago’s playbook.

“It’s like riding a bike. He’s been through some different offenses, even from the last time we were together in Kansas City, but once you present somebody like Nick the playbook and they start looking at it, all of a sudden it just clicks.”

Nagy was Foles’ offensive coordinator during the latter’s lone season with the Chiefs in 2016. Added Nagy,

“You start remembering it and you just start retraining your brain from what you knew in the past year or couple years. There’s still terminology differences between all of us, but that doesn’t take much. And Nick’s a smart guy.”

In an interview last month, Foles cited his brief time with Nagy as a major help in his transition as a Bears quarterback.

”It’s nice to have that foundation. There might be a few different terminologies and different run game and stuff like that, but I’ll be able to understand it decently well.”

Foles was acquired by Chicago in March in a trade with Jacksonville in exchange for the compensatory fourth-round draft pick they were awarded by the NFL. “Saint Nick” will now suit up for his fifth team in nine years, but Nagy sees no problem when it comes to adjustments and challenges concerning the one-time Super Bowl champion:

“There have been different times that he’s been humbled, but he’s overcome that. It has made him a stronger person on and off the field. Going from the top to the bottom, and in between, I think he’s just excited to be around good people and help the team.”

Foles is expected to battle Mitch Trubisky for the starting quarterback job this season.
