The Chicago Bears are still trying to get a gauge on who will be their starting quarterback in Week 1 between Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky. Despite it being a tight race still, Foles seems to have taken an early lead over Trubisky in Chicago's quarterback battle, per NBC Sports' Adam Hoge.

Earlier this week, the Bears began seven-on-seven and 11-on-11 drills in training camp. Without a preseason, head coach Matt Nagy gave each quarterback plenty of opportunities to throw the football during team drills. And it was Foles who shined, aside from one interception.

On the other hand, Hoge states that Trubisky was struggling with his accuracy and was taken too many risks on the field. Even Nagy exclaimed that Trubisky would likely want some of his throws in practice back.

When the Bears acquired Foles via trade this offseason, it was evident he'd have a legitimate chance to start in Week 1. Last year, in his lone season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Foles finished with 736 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. He would play in just four games due to a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 1.

As for Trubisky, he regressed under center, throwing for 3,138 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Just the season before, he flashed potential, airing it out for 3,223 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Due to his inability to show consistency in 2019, the Bears chose to decline Trubisky's fifth-year option.

With the first week of the season approaching fast, Nagy will have to choose between either Foles or Trubisky. According to Hoge, if the season were to begin today, Foles would be the frontrunner to get the first start in 2020.
