The Chicago Bears will be holding a quarterback competition in training camp if there is a training camp to be had. After joining his new team, Nick Foles reacted to the open quarterback competition that he'll be a part of in Chicago.

“The opportunity to be a full-time starter and do those things is something any player would love to do in the right situation,” Foles said via ProFootballTalk. “It’s an opportunity I’m excited for.”

Despite the Bears showing confidence in Mitch Trubisky after the 2019 season, they decided to acquire Foles in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Even though Trubisky will get the first chance to start, Foles is excited to get a chance to earn the starting job.

Last offseason, Foles signed with the Jaguars after a two-year stint with the Philadelphia Eagles. Of course, the reason that Jacksonville signed Foles was due to him winning a Super Bowl with the Eagles in 2017.

However, in his lone season with the Jaguars, Foles failed to live up the expectations. His time in Jacksonville began to take a turn for the worse when he suffered a broken clavicle in Week 1 versus the Kansas City Chiefs.

With Gardner Minshew excelling in Foles' absence, Foles was only able to start in four games in 2019. Over the course of the 2019 season, Foles threw for 736 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Nevertheless, the Bears are going to give Foles a chance to start once again next season. Even though he won't be handed the starting gig, Foles is excited at the opportunity to earn the job in training camp.
