When the Chicago Bears traded Jordan Howard to the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional 2020 sixth-round pick, it was a needed change for both sides. Howard, after a breakout 2017 season, fell short of expectations in 2018, and often seemed out of place in new coach Matt Nagy's offensive system.

Howard's absence leaves a void both on the depth chart and in the locker room for the Bears. Not many players have spoken publicly about the trade until fellow running back Tarik Cohen made some comments this week.

“Losing him, it hurt me a little bit,” Cohen said, via Chicago Bears sideline reporter Mark Grote. “I'm not going to lie, but it's a business. I understand that.”

A fifth-round pick of the Bears in 2016, Howard's rookie season was his best. He rushed for over 100 yards in seven games that season and ended the year second in rushing yards in the NFL with 1,313. He went on to get named to the Pro Bowl as a replacement player. Howard finished the 2018 season with 935 yards on 250 carries and averaged a career-low 3.7 yards per carry.

Cohen, will remain a jack-of-all-trades in Nagy's offense. He ended last season with 444 rushing yards on 99 carries with three rushing touchdowns, and caught 71 passes for 725 yards with five touchdowns.

As it stands now, he will be paired with Mike Davis in Chicago's backfield. Davis signed a two-year deal with the Bears this offseason after rushing for 862 yards on 234 carries with five rushing touchdowns in four NFL seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.
