The Chicago Bears failed to have fruitful results on the offensive side of the ball in 2019 after a successful 2018 season. Tarik Cohen, a versatile offensive weapon for the Bears, spoke out on one change that Chicago could make on offense next season.

In a conversation with Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Cohen pointed toward simplicity as a solution to fix Chicago's offense:

“I feel like we’ll probably go back to the things we were doing in 2018,” he said. “I feel like we’re just going to simplify things. I feel like at times we just made things too hard on ourselves and we didn’t have people guessing. I feel like we were kind of just showing our cards a little bit.”

Back in 2018, the Bears boasted one of the best offenses in the NFL in their first year under Matt Nagy. However, the offense would sputter in his second season at the helm. Despite having the ninth-best scoring offense in 2018, Chicago would possess the 29th scoring offense in 2019.

Nevertheless, Nagy and the Bears would prefer to revert back to what worked for them in the 2018 campaign. While Nagy will continue to call plays, Chicago added Bill Lazor as their new offensive coordinator. Also, the team chose to hire John DeFilippo as their next quarterbacks coach.

Just a season ago, Cohen and the Bears — especially due to the inconsistent play from Mitchell Trubisky — failed to thrive on offense.

Regardless of whether Trubisky or Nick Foles — who was acquired via trade this offseason — starts under center, Cohen believes the Bears just need to get back to conducting the offense in a similar fashion as they did in 2018.
