The Chicago Bears were able to let off some steam in a joint practice with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday. It appears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky made quite the impression of linebacker Von Miller.

The jury is still out on Trubisky's status as a franchise quarterback. However, Miller said he has high expectations for him going into the 2018 NFL season, via Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune:

“Mitch is a great quarterback,” Miller said after practice. “I think with the offensive scheme and the players they have around him he is going to be great. He was great last year. Great in college as well. He's their franchise quarterback… He can do a little bit of everything so you have to be prepared for everything.”

Some may view Miller's post-practice comments as simply an act of politeness. However, this is not the first time he has sung Trubisky's praises and this time he actually got to witness it firsthand. That said, the update from a player of his caliber is exactly what the Bears needed right now.

It had been reported that Trubisky struggled throughout the duration of training camp. His struggles with the scheme on offense led to some poor decisions on the field. Fortunately, it appears to be part of the growing pains that come with developing a franchise player.

Trubisky has all the measurables of a prototypical NFL quarterback and even Miller can see that. this is part of the reason he was taken with the second overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. However, he will first need to get a firm grasp of the playbook in order to unlock his potential.
