A.J. Green just can't seem to elude injuries in the past few seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. His latest injury to begin training camp is yet another unfortunate occurrence for the talented wideout.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Green is expected to miss “a few games” due to the injury. The Bengals wide receiver underwent ankle surgery to his injured ankle—making it doubtful he would be ready by Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks, and perhaps beyond.

Now, the news that he could miss multiple games isn't ideal. At the least, the Bengals will be able to see if Tyler Boyd can step up once again after breaking out in 2018.

When the Bengals began training camp, there was some optimism surrounding the offense. Then, Green went down with an ankle injury and that optimism began to fade away.

When Green went down, he was visibly upset and was carted off the practice field. Being upset was understandable for a guy returning from a toe injury that cost him seven games in 2018.

Over the past three seasons, Green has missed 13 games due to injury. Despite the ailments, he has still been regarded as one of the league's best receivers.

The Bengals Pro-Bowl talent is crucial to what Cincinnati wants to do offensively. New head coach Zac Taylor has been anxious to get to work with the offense, but there's a noticeable absence right now.

Besides facing the Seahawks in Week 1, Cincinnati will square off against the San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills, and Pittsburgh Steelers in the first few weeks. They could have to play all of those games without A.J. Green.
