Another year, another missed postseason for the Cincinnati Bengals. However, quarterback Andy Dalton is optimistic about the team's chances moving forward. The Bengals have made a few slight adjustments to prepare for the 2018 NFL season. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Dalton feels the team is moving closer to getting back into the playoffs:

“I do,” Dalton said. “If you look at last year, there’s four or five games that came down to the last couple of minutes of the game and under a touchdown difference. I think if a couple of those games had flipped we could have made the playoffs last year, but obviously we didn’t finish some of these games. I think we’re close. I think we’ve got the right guys. We’ll add some more once the draft happens. At this point, I’m just looking forward to getting back and working with everybody and being around everybody.”

There has been some talk about the future of the Bengals franchise moving forward. Dalton has proven to be capable of leading the team into the postseason after doing it in his first five seasons. However, the Bengals have now missed the playoffs for the second straight season and have failed to show any signs of promise.

Not only has Andy Dalton had a rough time getting the team back into playoff contention, but he has failed to get them past the opening round in all five appearances.

As a result, there may be questions as to whether or not he is the right man for the job. That said, this could very well be a determining year for the current offensive personnel as a whole.
