Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Auden Tate had to be carted off the field after suffering a scary hit against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, per Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area. While falling to reel in a catch, his helmet hit the stomach of safety Curtis Riley, to where it bent back.

According to Tyler Dragan of The Enquirer, Tate, while being carted off, signaled that he is okay with two thumbs up. The bench cleared to visit Tate and make sure he is okay. He is officially out for the rest of the contest with a neck injury.

Before suffering the injury, Tate had four receptions for 56 yards on the day. A second-year former Florida State Seminole, he has been a pleasant surprise for the Bengals in 2019. Heading into the Week 11 matchup, the 6-5, 228-pound wide-out had tallied 30 receptions for 427 yards and a touchdown in eight games played.

Auden has been consistent is he’s got aggressive hands and he’s tough,” said head coach Zac Taylor in Sept., via Chris Roling of Bengals Wire. “Those are two traits that you love and can find a role for. He’s physical in the run game. He looks like a tight end playing receiver, and he’s a guy there’s a role for in this offense. When his number has been called, he’s produced for us. He has a great catch radius, and he catches the ones you throw to him.”

Hopefully, the injury is less severe than it looked on the field and the cart is used for precautionary measures only.
