The Cincinnati Bengals appear to be taking another Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback with the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. 17 years after the Bengals made Carson Palmer the first pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, the presumption is that they will take LSU's Joe Burrow to start out the 2020 NFL Draft.

Palmer is a fan of Burrow, who is coming off of a historic season in Baton Rouge. On “The Dan Patrick Show,” the now-retired NFL quarterback praised Burrow.

“He’s such a spectacular talent,” Palmer said Wednesday morning, via The Dayton Daily News’ Marcus Hartman. “I think people have really kind of overlooked him by talking about Chase Young and some of these other guys and (Justin) Herbert from Oregon. He seems to be an obvious No. 1 pick.”

Burrow passed for an NCAA record 60 touchdowns in 2019. His LSU team went undefeated all the way to a national championship win, despite possessing one of the toughest schedules in college football. The 23-year-old Ohio native is coming off of one of the greatest single-seasons in college football history.

“I think he can run more than he’s shown and what you saw him do with his legs in the SEC — really the SEC is full of NFL talent on defense — you’ve seen him athletically take over games,” Palmer said. “You’ve seen him do it in the national championship just dropping dimes left and right all over tight coverage. I think he’s head and shoulders the No. 1 pick.”

In 2019, Burrow went from a fringe draft pick to a near-lock for No. 1 overall pick. In 2020, he will have to show that he has what it takes to be the Bengals' franchise quarterback.
