The Cincinnati Bengals are interested in hiring Jack Del Rio for their vacant defensive coordinator position, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Del Rio did not have an NFL job this year, last appearing as head coach of the Oakland Raiders in 2017. Del Rio was the Raiders' coach for three seasons, going 25-23 overall and leading Oakland to its first playoff appearance since the 2002-03 campaign after winning 12 games during his second year with the club.

However, after a disappointing 2017 season in which the Raiders won just six games, Del Rio was fired by Oakland.

The Raiders marked Del Rio's second NFL head-coaching job, as he was also at the helm for Jacksonville Jaguars from 2003 through 2011, going 68-71 and leading the Jaguars to a couple of playoff appearances. He was fired after Week 12 of the 2011 campaign after a 3-8 start.

In between coaching the Jaguars and Raiders, Del Rio served as defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos from 2012 through 2014, playing a role in the Broncos' Super Bowl appearance during the 2013-14 campaign.

Del Rio also served as defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers back in 2002.

The 55-year-old earned his first NFL coaching job in general all the way back in 1997, when he was hired as an assistant strength coach for the New Orleans Saints. He was then promoted to the Saints' linebackers coach in 1998 before making his way to the Baltimore Ravens to serve as linebackers coach from 1998 through 2001, coaching the likes of Ray Lewis and Peter Boulware. The Ravens won the Super Bowl in Del Rio's third season with the club.
