Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton has two years remaining on the six-year, $96 million contract extension he signed with the club back in 2014, but the Bengals don't have any plans of extending him at this point.

That doesn't mean it won't happen eventually, but Cincinnati wants to see how Dalton performs in new head coach Zac Taylor's offense first:

“I think it’s a good year for him to show like he can, like we think he will,” said Bengals owner Mike Brown, according to Fletcher Page of The Cincinnati Enquirer. “After he re-establishes himself, we would want to get together with him and see if we can extend it.”

Dalton is coming off of a rough 2018 campaign in which he played 11 games, missing five contests due to a thumb injury. During the time he was on the field, he threw for 2,566 yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 61.9 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 89.6.

“I think Andy is a good player, and that he will rebound off last year. He was hurt,” added Brown. “We lost so many other pieces; it fell apart. But if he’s healthy and we stay healthy enough, I have confidence in him.”
