Dre Kirkpatrick will be looking for a new team after the Cincinnati Bengals released him, and the cornerback wrote his goodbyes to the fans and his teammates on Instagram.

Kirkpatrick was a first-round pick by the Bengals in 2012 and has spent the last eight seasons in Cincinnati. He started six games in 2019 before suffering a knee injury that ended his season.

He made 67 starts for the Bengals and appeared in 99 games. Kirkpatrick still has some good football left in him, but with the way the offseason has been gone, it felt like only a matter of time until the Bengals moved on.

The Bengals signed former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes to a deal that will pay him over $40 million and almost $20 million in the first year.

Kirkpatrick was set to count $11.25 million toward the cap for the 2020 season, but by releasing him, they save almost $10 million they can spend in other areas.

Depending on how much money he is looking for, he should have a big market in free agency, and if he wants to, he should be able to sign very quickly.

The Bengals have been aggressive during free agency, and if they get good play out of their quarterback, this is a team that could really surprise a lot of people.

Outside of the Baltimore Ravens, the AFC North has a lot of questions, and this is a good chance for the Bengals to be competitive.
