The Cincinnati Bengals were flat-out dominated by the Baltimore Ravens in Week 10. To make matters worse, it seems tight end Drew Sample could potentially be done for the 2019 NFL season.

Sample was seen in a walking boot following the 49-13 loss to the Ravens. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, he may potentially be placed on injured reserve:

Bengals TE Drew Sample suffered a high-ankle sprain during the loss to the Ravens, tests showed. He’ll have more done to determine how much time he’ll miss, but the second-rounder is considered a candidate for Injured Reserve.

The update on Sample is hardly an encouraging sign for the state of quarterback Ryan Finley's receiving corps. They will not have much time to bounce back as they get set to hit the road against an Oakland Raiders team coming off back-to-back clutch wins.

Sample had been part of the youth movement that Cincinnati had ushered in this offseason after taking him in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Although the former Washington product had largely struggled to etch out an integral role for himself in the passing game with a mere five receptions for 30 yards this season, there was hope that his role would increase now that Finley is the starter.

The rookie will now have to continue trying to make do with the weapons at his disposal. Fortunately, the Bengals are still optimistic about wide receiver A.J. Green's looming return after suffering a setback last week. He is now listed as day-to-day and his potential presence in Oakland would undoubtedly provide a much-needed boost to the offense.
