Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver AJ Green is a big fan of his new quarterback, Joe Burrow.

The veteran wideout has been one of the top catchers in the NFL over the past nine years. During that time, he has primarily had one quarterback in Andy Dalton. That will change this 2020 though, with the Bengals drafting Joe Burrow with the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The first overall pick comes with a lot of pressure, but Burrow's primary target with the Bengals has a lot of respect for him.

“I know the type of player he is, and I know he's a dog,” AJ Green said of Joe Burrow, per Ben Baby of ESPN. “I know he's a dog for a fact. So I'm excited to play with him. I just can't wait to get out there.”

That's big for Burrow, who will need to come in and get the locker room behind him right off the bat. It will be even trickier for him this year than any other year in NFL history due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has prevented rookies from getting acclimated with their teams like they would in a normal season.

Burrow is expected to be the Week 1 starter for the Bengals, and the endorsement by Green will go a long way towards getting the team behind him before his first start. On top of a lack of OTAs, the league has already canceled half of the preseason games, which will make it even harder for rookies to get used to the NFL game before the games count.

Green signed a one-year franchise tag contract worth roughly $18 million on Friday. He is coming off an ankle injury which made him miss the entirety of the 2019 season. He will be looking to come back with a vengeance to try to get a long-term contract with the Bengals and help his new quarterback succeed.
