Joe Burrow is quickly becoming a Cincinnati Bengals legend. After missing a portion of his rookie season due to injury, the LSU product has come out swinging this season. He has led his team to two consecutive wins in the postseason, and are one win away from a Super Bowl appearance.

Bengals fans and Cincinnati natives have given their appreciation for Burrow in a rather heartwarming fashion. Cincinnati.com reported that the Joe Burrow Hunger Relief Fund (the quarterback's own charity) has amassed a whopping $1.3 million in donations. Most of these donations came in increments of $9 (Burrow's jersey number) or $31 (the number of years Cincinnati went without winning a playoff game).

Burrow has been a damn good quarterback in his stint in Cincinnati, but his personality and dedication to the community is what endeared him to the faithful. As part of the My Cause My Cleats movement of the NFL, the Bengals QB wore shoes dedicated to his charity and other related stuff. This likely was the catalyst for the huge number of donations his charity received.

The tradition of donation to a player's foundation can be traced to the city of Cincinnati. When the Bengals knocked off the Ravens on a last-minute Andy Dalton touchdown to send Buffalo to the playoffs, Bills fans donated to the QB's charity as a show of respect. This season, Chiefs fans donated to Josh Allen's foundation after their thrilling Divisional Round matchup. Now, Who Dey Nation is doing the same thing for their own quarterback.

Seeing this sort of thing is what makes football great. Whether the Bengals win or lose to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, they've done a good thing for their community, and that's what matters most.
