Joe Burrow recently signed his rookie contract with the Cincinnati Bengals to the tune of $36.1 million over four years. When asked about his sudden influx of money, Burrow iterated that he plans to spend zero dollars from his first NFL contract.

“I don’t plan on spending any contract money,” said Bengals rookie gunslinger Joe Burrow. “I’m just gonna live off the marketing money and let that accrue in my bank account.”

Since being taken with the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Burrow has signed multiple endorsement deals. Besides signing an endorsement with a powerhouse like Nike, Burrow has reportedly signed deals with Fanatics and Bose. Of course, the first-year quarterback will likely have more endorsements come into fruition before his rookie season.

Throughout the years, we've seen plenty of athletes make millions over the span of their careers. However, some of them squander the money, causing them to lose it all once their career is finished. Given that, the Bengals QB wants to ensure that he doesn't suffer the same fate as some of his predecessors.

Rob Gronkowski, who came out of retirement to reunite with Tom Brady this offseason, was known to have the same mindset as Burrow. The All-Pro tight end lived off of his endorsement money and never spent a dime of his NFL contract money until after he retired.

In his final season at LSU, Joe Burrow threw for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. Seeing Burrow's wise financial plan in the NFL, his decision making off the field seems to be just as good as it is on the field. The Bengals are happy to have him.
