The news for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow got a bit worse on Monday afternoon, as ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the rookie is dealing with a torn ACL and MCL, as well as other structural damage.

Burrow sustained these injuries in the Bengals' 20-9 loss to the Washington Football Team on Sunday. While leading 9-7 in the third quarter, he took a low hit that sent him straight to the ground:

Burrow's season is over.

Ryan Finley came in to replace Burrow after he went down with the injury, completing 3-of-10 passes for 30 yards and an interception.

This is certainly unfortunate news for the Bengals, as Burrow was showing real signs of promise. In 10 games, the rookie racked up 2,688 yards. Furthermore, he had 12 touchdowns passes and three touchdown runs.

The 2020 NFL Draft's No. 1 pick sent out a tweet after his surgery. The former LSU standout appears to be in good spirits, despite this unfortunate diagnosis:

ACL and MCL injuries take quite a while to recover from. Most experts are expecting Burrow to be sidelined for up to nine months in recovery:

The Bengals will be back in action on Nov. 29, when they'll serve as hosts to the New York Giants. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET, with FOX having live broadcast coverage.
