The Cincinnati Bengals were finally able to secure their first win of the 2019 NFL season against the New York Jets in Week 13. Running back Joe Mixon took the opportunity to express his appreciation for fans in Cincinnati.

It is no secret that the Bengals have endured their fair share of struggles before finally getting into the win column with a 22-6 victory over the Jets. Mixon ensured that better times are ahead for the team, via Chris Roling of the Bengals Wire:

“At the end of the day, it’s been a rough patch, but it’s going to get better. We definitely appreciate every single one of you all that came out and supported us, even the ones that watched it on television. It’s been tough, but stick with us.”

Mixon even took to Twitter to congratulate head coach Zac Taylor on his first win.

This is not the first time Mixon has acknowledged the team's shortcomings. He pleaded with the fans to stick by their side following their abysmal start to the 2019 campaign. Although it may have taken longer than he initially planned, they finally managed to show the signs of promise he said were on the way.

The Bengals have not had much to hang their hat on, given their struggles on both sides of the ball. However, they are hoping to use this win over the Jets as a springboard to help end the season on a high note. Even if fans are vying for the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, it is safe to say that Taylor and Mixon do not want it to come to the cost of not competing.
