The Cincinnati Bengals have jumped out to a double-digit lead over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, but they may be without their No. 1 running back for the rest of the game. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Joe Mixon is questionable to return to Sunday's game due to a foot injury.

Mixon suffered the foot injury in the second quarter of the game and was being looked at by the medical staff. Prior to his injury, Mixon had 11 carries for 44 yards and a touchdown for the Bengals.

Heading into Sunday's game, Mixon was beginning to find his groove in Cincinnati's offense. The former second-round pick out of Oklahoma scampered for 374 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns through the first five weeks. He also contributed 19 receptions for 123 yards and one touchdown.

If Mixon were unable to return to the game, Giovani Bernard would see an expanded role in the offense. Bernard is in his eighth season with the Bengals and has started in just 20 games throughout his career.

However, Bernard is more than capable of handling a heavier workload given his receiving ability. At the same time, it goes without saying that Cincinnati would prefer to have both Mixon and Bernard available in the backfield. Meanwhile, Joe Burrow will have to lead the offense without his go-to back in the backfield if Mixon is sidelined.

Besides Bernard, the only running backs on the roster are Semaje Perine and Trayveon Williams. Seeing that it's almost halftime in the game, we will likely get a better grasp of Mixon's status for the rest of the game at the beginning of the second half.
