Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon has sustained a chest injury, and is questionable to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday afternoon, according to a report issued by ESPN's Field Yates.

The 4th year back out of the University of Oklahoma was drafted by the Bengals in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. One of the few consistent producers for an organization that has undergone a fair amount of upheaval over the last several years, Mixon not only accrued over 1400 yards from scrimmage the last two years, but averaged over 4 yards per carry; a statistic that places him near the top of the running backs throughout the league.

The halfback has also turned into somewhat of an iron man for the often shorthanded Bengals, playing in 31 straight games, and last missing a match in 2018.

Mixon has struggled through the first 3 games this season, however. With Cincinnati winless thus far, and rookie quarterback Joe Burrow still acclimating to the pace of the league, the normally reliable halfback has yet to gain more than 70 yards in a match, and has averaged below 3 yards per attempt. While some of this can be attributed to teams loading up the box in an attempt to stymie one of the Bengals' few weapons, the start has been disappointing for a team so dependent on him.

The exact nature of the injury is not known as of yet, as the back was not listed on the team's injury report throughout the week. This suggests that the ailment was not sustained in last weekend's game against the Philadelphia Eagles but during the intermittent week.
