The Cincinnati Bengals remain winless following a blowout loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4. Unfortunately, it appears they may have suffered an even more significant blow with wide receiver John Ross.

Ross was forced to leave the game with a shoulder injury. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, he has now been place on injured reserve.

The Bengals have placed WR John Ross on Injured Reserve, and I’m told no surgery is scheduled. He is a candidate to return later in the season.

The injury to Ross certainly deals a devastating blow to the Bengals' receiving corps. Although there is hope that he will be able to return at some point during the season, there may not be much reason for him to attempt a comeback given how the year has gone so far.

Ross has endured a rough start to his career after being taken in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He struggled to find his footing while dealing with injuries the first two seasons of his career. As a result, there had been pressure on him to perform coming into the 2019 NFL season.

The speedster managed to show some significant signs of improvement with back-to-back 100-yard games to start the year. Unfortunately, Ross has suffered yet another setback that could result in a shortened season once again. Despite the lackluster state of the offense, he still managed to haul in 16 receptions for 328 yards and three touchdowns through the first four games.
