The Cincinnati Bengals added another potential weapon to the passing game for quarterback Joe Burrow by taking wide receiver Tee Higgins in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. It seems some praise from former Bengals wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh certainly went a long way.

According to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, Houshmandzadeh's comparison of Higgins to wide receiver A.J. Green helped secure the pick for the Bengals:

“I ended up calling T.J. (Houshmandzadeh) because he’s been working out with Higgins. He raved about him and pretty much said he’s the next A.J. Just gushing over him. He felt he was the next best receiver behind (Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy). Same thing we all saw on film: For how big he is, it’s rare how well he can get out of cuts. How he can decelerate. Said he’s way faster than what he ran.”

It is safe to say that this is some heavy praise from Houshmandzadeh, and it was more than enough to spur Cincinnati to bring him in. As a result, expectations appertains to be rather high for the rookie coming into the 2020 NFL season.

Fortunately, Higgins will have the luxury of learning from Green himself. Sharing a similar build and skill set should certainly help pay huge dividends for his development.

Of course, only time will tell if Higgins is capable of putting together the same body of work Green has enjoyed. For now, the Bengals are hoping Higgins' potential emergence gives Burrow another viable option to work with.
