When he is on the field, Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert is one of the better tight ends in the league. The operative phrase there, however, is “when he is on the field.”

Since entering the league in 2013, Eifert has never played a full season, and since 2016, he has appeared in just 14 games combined.

Naturally, when you see a guy failing to appear in any more than eight games in an individual season over the course of three years, you would assume that he is injury-prone, but don't tell that to Eifert.

The 28-year-old, who will be a free agent in March, is frustrated with the injury-prone label that has been placed upon him, saying he can't help freak injuries.

“Obviously it’s something I have to deal with and something I have to answer to because it is a part of my history,” Eifert said during an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio. “It’s tough, though, because there’s nothing I could do to prevent what is happening. Pretty freak injuries.”

Over the course of his NFL career, Eifert has dealt with a myriad of injuries ranging from ankle issues to back issues. He has broken two ankles and has undergone three back surgeries, so staying healthy has certainly been a big problem for the Fort Wayne, In. native.

Eifert is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played just four games due to a broken ankle.

His most productive season came in 2015, when he appeared in 13 contests and made the Pro Bowl after hauling in 52 receptions for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns.
