The Pittsburgh Steelers opted to make a switch under center in Week 12 and it kept the Cincinnati Bengals from getting their first win of the 2019 NFL season. It appears head coach Zac Taylor has no intention of doing the same with quarterback Andy Dalton.

Quarterback Ryan Finley struggled mightily once again to get anything going on offense. According to Laura Pfahler of The Athletic, Taylor does not plan on making the switch back to Dalton following the 16-10 loss to Pittsburgh:

When asked if he has considered going back to Dalton, Taylor said he won’t make personnel decisions right after a game.

Taylor added that three games for a rookie quarterback is far too little time to make a determination.

Taylor said if rookies had just three games to be evaluated there wouldn’t be a lot of players left in the league.

Although there may be some truth to Taylor's comments, Finley has not provided very many signs of promise since taking over under center. He completed 12-of-26 passes for 192 yards and lost a crucial fumble near the end that may have cost them the game. This comes just a week after he completed just 13-of-31 attempts for 115 yards and an interception in the loss to Oakland.

Regardless, there is not much to gain from bringing Dalton back in at this point in the season. Not only does it leave Finely's status on the depth chart up for question but it could also potentially hinder their chances at a No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft if they were to win a few games down the stretch.

It appears Taylor will allow the rookie to have another chance at getting the Bengals their first win when they host the New York Jets next week.
