It looks like Vontaze Burfict's tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals could be coming to an end.

According to ESPN.com, the Bengals could end up moving on from the linebacker, who has had a lot of health issues over the past several years, mainly due to concussions.

Burfict played in just seven games in 2018, finishing with 33 tackles and three passes defended.

He has not played a full season since his second year in the NFL in 2013, and since then, he has never played in any more than 11 games in any one regular season.

Widely considered one of the dirtiest players in the league, Burfict has not only dealt with injuries but a host of suspensions since entering the league, both of which have prevented him from reaching his full potential.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Arizona State but went undrafted, burst on to the scene during his rookie campaign, racking up 127 tackles, a sack and a couple of fumble recoveries.

The following year, Burfict was even better, tallying a league-leading 177 tackles, three sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, a couple of fumble recoveries, six passes defended and a defensive touchdown in a Ray Lewis-type season which resulted in Burfict earning a trip to the Pro Bowl.

It looked like Burfict was on his way to becoming the NFL's premier linebackers at that time, but since then, Burfict has posted 100 tackles just once and has averaged only 8.6 games per season.

The Bengals are coming off of a 2018 campaign in which they went 6-10 to miss the playoffs for the third straight year.
