Thursday, April 23 is the day that Joe Burrow is expected to be drafted No. 1 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals. Burrow led LSU to an undefeated season that ended in a National Championship. The Bengals finished with just two wins under first year head coach Zac Taylor.

The Bengals struggled at many positions in 2019. It all started at quarterback. The duo of Andy Dalton and Ryan Finley was not effective. That is the reason that many people believe that Burrow could be the savior for the Bengals.

One problem is that Burrow might not have anyone to throw the ball to in his rookie season. Tyler Boyd emerged as a quality receiver, but John Ross continued his injury prone ways. Cincinnati was without longtime No. 1 option A.J. Green for the entire season.

Green missed all of 2019 after playing just nine games the season before. He burst onto the scene immediately during his rookie season in 2011. Green began his career with five straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons. During that time, he caught double-digit touchdowns three times.

Green has been hurt in three of the last four seasons. He is set to become a free agent, but it would be beneficial for both sides for Green to return to Cincinnati.

Burrow And Green Could Be Intriguing Pair

Green spent his career catching passes from Dalton. Even though the Bengals had some good regular season teams, that is no way to spend a career. Green paid his dues and was one of the best receivers of his time.

Burrow put up the best statistical college season of all-time. He threw for 5,671 yards with 60 touchdowns and six interceptions. That has to do with the extremely fast pace of play that LSU used all season. Burrow's accuracy stood out over anything else. He has decent arm strength, but is extremely accurate and put the ball exactly where it needed to be all season long.

If Burrow pans out like he is expected to at the next level, that should persuade Green to stay in Cincinnati. He is at the point in his career where he might look to play for a contender and win before deciding to hang up his cleats. Burrow could be the type of quarterback that Green needs during his final seasons.

This could be a pair that makes the Bengals' offense explosive once again. Joe Mixon had a strong finish to the season, which was a good sign. Now the Bengals have a chance to build something by drafting their franchise quarterback and re-signing their franchise receiver.
