Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green is working his way towards getting fully healthy, but he’s still confined to a walking boot, unfortunately.

Green made an appearance at a local charity event at the Freestore Foodbank this week, and was still confined to a walking boot, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Fletcher Page. When asked about it, Green said that it’s a required thing for him, but he’ll be out of it in about a week.

“Next step is I put on a shoe and I start bending it back more and moving it more,” said Green. “The biggest thing is it's the offseason and we have time. We don't have to rush anything. The biggest thing is getting range of motion back.”

After injuring his right foot earlier during the regular season and suffering a season-ending toe injury, Green was forced to have surgery on his foot, which ended his season at a paltry 46 catches, 694 yards, and six touchdowns. Now, Green comes back to a Bengals team going through a semi-rebuild with a brand new coach.

“It was tough,” he said when asked about Marvin Lewis’ departure. “He brought so much good to this city and to this team. He’s a great coach. I wish him the best. He put us in a great position. We’ve got a lot of talent, we’ve drafted well. It’s next man up. It’s a sad story, but I guess it was time.”

While Green hasn’t talked much about incoming head coach Zac Taylor, he did note that he was “very excited” about the possibilities of working with someone new.

“We’ve got a new spark, made some changes. It’s going to be fun,” he said. “It will definitely be a big change, more change than I’m used to. Coach Lewis has been here my first eight years. It’s all I know. It’s going to be tough not having him. But it’s that spark we needed I guess, so we’ll see how it goes.”
