On the cusp of losing their four-point lead as time waned on late in the second quarter, the Buckeyes had gained prime field position thanks to an interception of their own only three plays before. Unable to reach the end zone throughout the first half, Ohio State reached the Wildcats' nine-yard line with a 12-yard run by Trey Sermon, one of the few offensive players that has performed to expectations on the afternoon. Needing a victory to ensure their place in the College Football Playoff, Ohio State appeared poised to take control of a match many had expected them to dominate.

Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, Brandon Joseph had other ideas.

Muscling his way into position over the Buckeye's wide receiver, Joseph leapt into the air off his back foot, and still retained the awareness to reel in the pass from Justin Fields one-handed. Though he is only a freshman, Joseph leads the nation with six interceptions, and is considered the best strong safety in the country, according to Pro Football Focus.

Entering the second half of the Big Ten Championship Game, the Wildcats continue to lead 10-6 in their bid for an upset. With Ohio State once again driving, Northwestern might need another save from their star 18-year-old.
