The BIG3 has proven to be successful so far in their inaugural season by catching the attention and praise from many former and current NBA players.

This has put the attention on potential future players for the league over the next few seasons. According to Jeff Garcia of News4SA.com, BIG3 Commissioner Roger Mason has voiced his desire for Dirk Nowitzki join once his illustrious NBA career comes to a close.

“We absolutely would be interested in Dirk Nowitzki,” said Mason.

“He obviously has been one of the greatest of all time in five on five, but even where he is today he’d be a great three on three player so if he decides to hang them up this year in the NBA we certainly have a home for him here. I enjoyed my time playing against Dirk when I was with the Spurs playing Dallas a couple years ago in the playoffs so we do have a relationship and I’m sure he’s seen our games,” Mason said.

This comes just about two weeks after league founder Ice Cube had voiced that he hopes that Nowitzki will join the league once he decides to retire from the NBA.

Nowitzki is set to head into his 20th season after inking a two-year, $10 million deal to remain with the Dallas Mavericks. It includes a player option for the second year of the contract, which leaves the door open to him possibly retiring next summer. He has voiced on a few occasions this summer that he hopes to play a few seasons.

Nowitzki is one of many players that Ice Cube and Mason are hoping to lure in such as the likes of Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. It could be a matter of time before a few of these legends could be playing once again.
