Over the course of his 14-year career in the NBA, Amar'e Stoudemire played with four different teams, including the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, and Miami Heat. At each stop, the six-time All-Star left a lasting impression.

Stoudemire retired from the NBA in July of 2016, but he still had that itch, as they say. The 6-10 forward then made his way to Israel for a season with Hapoel Jerusalem, one of the best teams in Europe. You may not have heard, but he led that squad to an Israeli Basketball League Cup.

Stoudemire is back on American soil now, playing in Ice Cube's BIG3 League. If things go as planned, he'd like to use this 3-on-3 venture as a transition to an NBA comeback.

“I’m definitely going to make that push,” Stoudemire recently told Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald. “Hopefully, that becomes reality.”

“My body just started to feel so good that I thought I have to make it back to the NBA,” Stoudemire continued. “I retired early to live overseas. I always wanted to live in Israel for one year. I retired early to accomplish that, but now that I accomplished that, I want to make my way back to the NBA.”

In 846 career NBA games, Stoudemire racked up averages of 18.9 points on 53.7 percent shooting from the field, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists. The former No. 9 overall pick (2002) appeared in 52 games with the Heat in his final season (36 starts), averaging 5.8 points on 56.6 percent shooting and 4.3 rebounds.

Stoudemire says he isn't looking to be a superstar on any particular team. He just wants contribute with veteran leadership.

“I feel like there are a lot of teams out there that can use that,” Stoudemire told the Miami Herald. “but I think at the moment teams are working on signing free agents so I’m probably going to fall down on the totem pole a bit until teams are ready to sign people who are on the lower scale as far as contracts are concerned.”

Whether we'll see Stoudemire back in the NBA or not remains to be seen, but it certainly sounds like he's interested. Be sure to keep your browsers locked on ClutchPoints for more updates on this topic as they become available.
