Former NBA veteran Corey Maggette was named the 2018 BIG3 Most Valuable Player after leading his team Power to a 7-1 regular-season record and now into contention for all the marbles.

The 14-year pro played in only one game last season after suffering an injury but was resurgent this summer with an average of 16.9 points and 3.1 assists per game through eight regular season games.

Maggette ranked second in the BIG3 in each of the aforementioned categories.

Corey Maggette was also named Captain of the Year, now one game away from the championship, as he faces Baron Davis' 3's Company in the final in Brooklyn.

The 38-year-old Maggette had never won an award in the NBA, also lacking any All-Star mentions, but he still held a more-than-respectable career average of 16 points per game. Despite the lack of physical accolades, Maggette was a well-known capable scorer during his time in the league, averaging 20 or more points in three of his 14 NBA seasons.

The Duke product was known for his physical play, his rebounding and propensity to get to the foul line, shooting free throws at an 82.2 percent clip for his career.

Power coach Nancy Lieberman also received BIG3 Coach of the Year honors after leading her team to the No. 1 seed, making it a power-duo to watch out for during Friday's live season finale on FOX.
