Ice Cube's BIG3 league made a concerted effort to gather more NBA talent for this year's three-on-three spectacle. While they did a good job of getting former stars to join, the league lost some big names on Wednesday. Lamar Odom, Baron Davis, Bonzi Wells, and Jermaine O'Neal were all deactivated and will no longer play in the league.

There was no real explanation of why the three were let go. The only reasoning the league gave went as follows:

“Some changes are being implemented to maximize competition, protect the health of the players, and to raise the level of the professionalism of the Big3.”

Apparently, the four players were not living up to the standards that the league envisioned.

This is an especially brutal blow for Lamar Odom, who had voiced his intention of possibly making an NBA comeback. The two-time champion and former Sixth Man of the Year has climbed back from drug addiction and some very dark days and had his eye on returning to basketball. Unfortunately, it does not look like the goal will be accomplished.

The BIG3 still boasts some NBA talent. The league's current leading scorer is Joe Johnson, a former seven-time All-Star who had several memorable years in the NBA.

Hopefully, this isn't the last we see of Lamar Odom or any of the other three veterans on a basketball court.
