Nate Robinson, the small-in-stature but big-in-personality former NBA player will continue his basketball career.

No, he will not be joining an NBA team that is need of a high-flying dunker and energy guy off the bench. No, he will not join a young team looking for an experienced veteran.

Robinson will join the BIG3 league, and serve as a co-caption for the Tri-State team, per Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints.

According to Tri-State's website, the team already has one co-captain in former NBA player Bonzi Wells. It is unclear if Robinson and Wells will be co-captains together, or if Wells is perhaps leaving the team or the league entirely.

Robinson made waves in the NBA with his big personality and also with his dunking. He won the Slam Dunk Contest three separate times. At only 5-foot-9, it is arguably one of the greatest accomplishments of his career based on the fact that he won while competing against taller players. He became the first player ever to win three dunk contests.

Robinson also was on the 2010 Boston Celtics team that played the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. That team, famously, blew a 3-2 lead and lost to the Lakers in seven games.

Joining the BIG3 league could be seen as a type of career revival for Robinson, who is still relatively young and feels he has more to offer to the basketball world. Whether joining the 3-on-3 league will accomplish that remains to be seen.

But one thing is for sure. When the season starts for the league, everyone will be on pins and needles waiting to see if Robinson can still dunk.
