The BIG3 employs retired NBA players to compete against one another in exciting matchups. The league has drawn attention from sports fans, players, and investors who all want to see NBA legends and former players play basketball past their primes. Ice Cube, the rapper and businessman, has been a vocal leader of the BIG3 movement for the past few years.
What started as his humble idea quickly transformed into a fully-operating league that even features the likes of former MVP Allen Iverson. However, there already appears to be some turmoil in the league's inner staff. According to TMZ, the league has already fired Roger Mason as its commissioner.
“We are writing to inform you of the decision by the BIG3 to terminate the employment of Roger Mason Jr. for cause under the terms of his employment agreement with the league.”
The letter details a corruption investigation involving Mason and his ties to two Qatari investors who allegedly stiffed the league out of millions of dollars … investors that Mason brought to the league in the first place.
Apparently, Mason refused to cooperate with the league in favor of the ties between him and two Qatari investors. Ice Cube will take over the position until the league can find a permanent replacement in the coming months. The league might not have to wait long. The popularity of the BIG3 league is sure to attract hundreds of interesting applicants.
