The New England Patriots had one of the worst offenses in the NFL in 2020. The NFL is a passing league and Bill Belichick ignored virtually every aspect of it for his team this season.

Despite all of that, the Patriots were still able to win some games and be competitive with Bill Belichick overseeing it all.

On the daily Peacock and Williamson podcast, am NFL show on the Locked On Podcast network, they discussed how the New England Patriots are built under the watchful eye of Bill Belichick. Obviously, not geared to keep up with the rest of the NFL. Nonetheless, it is impressive that they were able to be competitive in games this season. They were outclassed by the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

Williamson: Quick Patriots takeaway, you talk about the modern NFL, it is about the passing game. They have no receivers. I mean, like, none. Tight ends, pass catchers, they have no one who scares any defense in the league. James White, Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, anyone. None of them are starting material for a good offense. So the quarterback situation is obviously a problem but that is massive (for the Patriots and Bill Belichick). And they have no pass rushers, so this type of league with no pass rushers and no weapons in the passing game, it is amazing that they are at all competitive to be honest with you.

Buffalo is really really good. I mean Josh Allen is a superstar, obviously they decided that they were going to send a statement to the Patriots, the AFC East, to the league and rub this in a little bit after 20 years of getting beat like that.
