The Buffalo Bills dominated the New England Patriots and ran away with a lopsided 47-17 victory in the Wild Card Round of the 2022 NFL Playoffs. Josh Allen was unstoppable from the very start and dominated the staunch Patriots defense with a historic performance, so it's time to examine some Bills takeaways from this Wild Card demolition.

Buffalo's win on Saturday helped them secure a second straight Divisional Round berth and will now await the winner of the tilt between the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers to see the next playoff opponent. It will certainly become tougher from this point onward, but Sean McDermott's squad has shown that they can go up against anyone in the AFC to make a deep run this season.

With that said, here are three takeaways from the Bills' Wild Card Round victory over the Patriots.

Buffalo Bills Wild Card Takeaways

3. Buffalo's defense shut down New England

Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier and his unit buckled down and went to work in their game against the Patriots. Several players stepped up and had a strong outing, which helped contain the offensive attack of their opponent.

The combination of cornerback Levi Wallace and safety Micah Hyde in the secondary was crucial as they both notched an interception in the game. Defensive linemen Carlos Basham Jr., Star Lotulelei, and Jerry Hughes were all disruptive on defense as they haunted Mac Jones and each recorded sacks against him.

Certainly enough, this game was one of the best defensive efforts that the team has produced all season long. If they manage to keep up their good momentum on defense, they will surely find themselves in a good position to make a Super Bowl run.

2. The depth of the Bills' offensive unit was on full display

Aside from the team's stifling defense, the Bills also maximized their loaded offense to create significant separation against the Patriots. Josh Allen did a nearly perfect job of orchestrating their attack and distributing the ball to his weapons who, in turn, all delivered in the scoring department.

Tight end Dawson Knox was the best performer in the game on offense as he generated 89 yards on five catches and two touchdowns for the Bills. Gabriel Davis, Emmanuel Sanders, and even offensive tackle Tommy Doyle all found their way in the end zone. On the ground, running back Devin Singletary also had an explosive outing as he recorded 81 rushing yards on 16 carries and two scores against the Patriots.

The way that the Bills' offense dominated this game certainly sent a message to the rest of the teams in the AFC that they are a dangerous team to deal with on any given day. Buffalo made history in this game by scoring a touchdown on every single drive except the last one, which simply featured Mitchell Trubisky kneeling out the clock.

1. Josh Allen is a monster

The biggest star of the show was QB Josh Allen, who came out with a huge performance amid the frigid weather. The environment certainly didn't bother Allen at all.

In fact, the 2020 Pro Bowler only had four incompletions in the game as he ended with 308 passing yards on 31-of-35 attempts to go with five touchdowns for the Bills. Allen also displayed his mobility and elusiveness as he had an imprint on the ground game with 66 rushing yards on six carries to complement the stellar outing of his primary rusher in Devin Singletary.

With a strong performance, the 25-year-old has shown that there is still a huge gap between him and opposing QB Mac Jones, who had a tough time in his first playoff stint. Josh Allen will continue to have a significant imprint in their upcoming games, and the Bills' level of success will be determined based on how good their quarterback plays as their postseason campaign progresses.
