Even though Josh Allen had a stellar career at Wyoming, his draft stock was all over the place. However, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane took a chance and traded up to select him with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
That moved seemed to work out, as Allen has shown plenty of promise in his first two seasons in the league. Making an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday, Beane revealed what completely sold him on Allen:
There's no doubt that Allen has shown leadership in his first two seasons with the Bills, especially in the 2019 campaign. His stats have significantly improved from his rookie season. This past year, the 23-year-old completed 58.8 percent of his passes for 3,089 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Not only has Allen developed his passing game, but he has emerged as a running threat. He recorded 510 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns in the 2019 campaign, which is impressive. Although the Bills lost in heartbreak fashion against the Houston Texans in the playoffs, Allen had an opportunity to get postseason experience.
Nevertheless, with Tom Brady leaving the New England Patriots, the Bills have a high shot on winning the AFC East. If they do win, it'll be their first division title since 1995 when Jim Kelly was the quarterback.
