The Buffalo Bills knew after watching the film that the team needed Oklahoma Sooners offensive tackle Cody Ford and even moved up two spots from 40 to 38 to make sure they didn't lose him.

Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic recently sat down with Bills general manager Brandon Beane to talk about all of the team's drafts picks and exactly what he saw in the film.

Watching Ford the tape was pretty clear that he was strong in run blocking, and he never peaked over his shoulder looking at where the quarterback is, something that is key in a good offensive lineman.

“You see an excellent run-game player,” Beane said. “This guy can get to the second level. Once he gets his hands on you, school’s out. He was the best finisher of any lineman I saw in this draft. When you grade many linemen, a lot of them are locking their guys in and they’re peeking over their shoulder to see where the quarterback is. I never saw Cody peek. The next time he peeks will be the first time I saw him peek. He looks at it like if the whistle hasn’t blown and I knock my guy down, I’m either going to really finish him or I’m going to look for more work. That’s already in him. Some guys you have to kick in the butt. If anything, you have to pull him back.”

If Ford can continue to play that way in the NFL and his game adjusts well, the Bills might have just gotten themselves a steal in the second round.
