Free-agent defensive lineman Trey Flowers may not be returning to the New England Patriots next season, but that does not mean he will be leaving the AFC East.

According to Josina Anderson of ESPN, the Buffalo Bills may have interest in signing Flowers. That would make them the second AFC East team outside of the Patriots to consider the pass rusher, as the Miami Dolphins have also been rumored to be intrigued by signing him.

Flowers is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played in 15 games and racked up 57 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Arkansas, was originally selected by New England in the fourth round (101st pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He played in just one game during his rookie season due to a shoulder injury, but the following year, Flowers appeared in all 16 contests and registered 45 tackles, seven sacks, and a couple of fumble recoveries.

Then, in 2017, the Huntsville, Al. native participated in 14 games and posted 62 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and a pair of forced fumbles.

Due to the Patriots' well-known reputation of letting good players walk, particularly on the defensive end, the general consensus is that Flowers will be playing his football elsewhere next season in spite of helping New England win a Super Bowl title this past year.

Given the fact that the Bills ranks just 26th in the league with 36 sacks in 2018, they could certainly use an edge rusher like Flowers to help bolster their front seven.
