The New York Jets released former All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell on Tuesday, making him a free agent. Bell is expected to sign with a new team, with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins reportedly being the favorites to land the disgruntled star.

It would seem the Bills are pushing hard for Bell.

Head coach Sean McDermott suggested Thursday the team indeed has interest in bringing Bell to Buffalo:

“We always look into every situation, this being one of them. Trying to improve our football team — that’s all I can say right now,” McDermott said, via Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.

The Bills entered the year with an intriguing one-two punch of Devin Singletary and rookie back Zack Moss.

However, Buffalo has had little success running the football. The Bills rank 28th in the NFL in rushing yards, and are also averaging just 3.8 yards per carry.

Singletary, in particular has struggled to gather momentum. He averaged 3.1 yards per carry in Week 4 before rushing 11 times for just 25 yards in Tuesday's loss to the Tennessee Titans. The second-year back has even ceded some touches to T.J. Yeldon.

Meanwhile, Moss has been sidelined by a toe injury, and it remains to be seen when he might return to the fold.

For his part, Bell is hoping for a fresh start after a tumultuous Jets tenure.

The 28-year-old averaged just 3.2 yards per carry last year, and began this season on injured reserve before seeing just 22 touches in the last two weeks.

McDermott seems to feel Le'Veon Bell can help his team. The question will be whether Bell feels Buffalo is the best situation for him, personally.
