The Buffalo Bills made headlines with their decision to cut running back LeSean McCoy. It seems wide receiver Cole Beasley is among those that were most shocked by the decision.

Despite his recent arrival, Beasley had developed quite a rapport with McCoy. According to Matt Parrino of nyup.com, he admits that his release stung him a bit.

“That was one of the ones that probably hurt me the most. Me and Shady, I’ve been here a short time but we hung out and did something probably everyday,” Beasley said. “When we were here we were shooting hoops in (the field house), playing anagrams on the phone – competing. That’s all we did is compete together.”

Beasley has not been in town very long after signing with the Bills this offseason. Regardless, it is clear that he and McCoy became good friends during that short time. Unfortunately, such is the business of the NFL.

The Bills managed to shore up some quality depth in their backfield this offseason. All signs point to a committee led by running backs Frank Gore, Devin Singletary, and T.J. Yeldon.

Beasley can at least take solace in the fact that the deal appears to have worked out for both sides. McCoy has since signed with a legitimate Super Bowl contender in the Kansas City Chiefs and will have an opportunity to enjoy a potential resurgence in their high-powered offense.

Despite the loss, Beasley is focused on emerging as a safety net for quarterback Josh Allen in the 2019 NFL season.
