Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane likes what he saw on the field when it comes to rookie running back Devin Singletary. With the former Florida Atlantic rusher finding a home in Buffalo as he makes his way from the collegiate ranks to the NFL, Singletary's lackluster performance at this year's NFL Scouting Combine didn't deter the Bills come April.

“He just has a feel,” Beane said of Singletary, via Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic. “He competes. Plenty of guys are going out of bounds right there, but watch this. He says, ‘I want more.’”

The Bills went on to select the former Florida Atlantic standout in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft while adding to the team's depth at the running back position behind both LeSean McCoy and Frank Gore.

“Undersized, three-down back with rare improvisational skill and toughness through contact to squeeze every yard he can from each carry,” reads his 2019 NFL Draft profile on NFL.com. “Singletary was asked to catch it less in 2018, but he's a tough cover out of the backfield and has the dog in him to step up and deliver a lick in blitz pickup. He ran poorly and did not test well in short-area quickness events at the combine, which could hurt his draft standing, but might not deter him from NFL success as a complementary runner.”

Due to the presence of the aforementioned tandem of veteran rushers in McCoy and Gore, it still remains to be seen as to how much usage the soon-to-be rookie running back encounters in 2019.
