Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen managed to top his stellar performance in the 2020 NFL season opener with a career day against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2. It seems head coach Sean McDermott is hardly surprised by his hot start to the year.

Allen threw for a career-high 417 yards and four touchdowns during the clutch 31-28 victory over Miami. McDermott praised his quarterback for stepping up when the team needed him most, via Dan Fetes of 13WHAM:

“He’s got ice water in his veins,” McDermott said. “No moment is too big for him. That was true for the very start when we got him here.”

The Bills' defense was already shorthanded going into Week 2 after losing both of their starting linebackers. As a result, the onus was on the offense to carry the load against the Dolphins and Allen certainly proved to be up to the challenge.

Buffalo managed to get off to a hot start to the first half until Miami swung the momentum in their favor and secured a 20-17 lead in the fourth quarter. Fortunately, Allen responded by throwing for 145 yards and two touchdowns on next two drives to escape with the win.

There is no question that Allen has come a long way since struggling with his accuracy as a rookie. He is now building off the promise he showed during the 2019 campaign by establishing himself as a bonafide franchise quarterback to start the season.

Allen and the bills will face their biggest challenge yet in Week 3 when they host a Los Angeles Rams team that is also 2-0.
