Contract extension talks between the Buffalo Bills and their star quarterback Josh Allen have hit a stand-still. According to Kim Jones from the NFL Network, there is “no current momentum toward a deal.”

While many other players such as Fred Warner, Braden Smith and Jonathan Allen are getting extensions during the 2021 offseason, Allen's extension seems to not be a priority to both parties. They are more focused on getting to the playoffs once again.

The Bills have been back and forth with their QB's agent on how big and long the extension would be. With players like Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes getting one of the largest contracts in NFL history and Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott getting one of the largest guaranteed contracts, it will be difficult to assign how much money Allen is worth. Look for him to break the bank and top Dak's contract and possibly get a long deal like Mahomes.

Ranked in the top ten in his respective position, the Bills will have to pay big bucks to keep their quarterback for years to come. He has shown great improvements year by year. He's proven the haters wrong, who doubted him since his college days. The kid can ball, and getting him a contract that is great for both sides would allow the Bills to stay in contention for years and years to come.

It would be nice to sign Allen to a deal now to get it out of the way. However, he still has two more years left on his current deal. Even if they don't get it done in 2021, then look for a deal to happen in 2022. Nonetheless, it seems like he will be staying with the Bills for years to come. It's just a matter of when the contract comes.
