Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was able to help maneuver his team back to the postseason in 2019, despite not having a wide receiver that many considered a true Pro Bowl talent. Now, in the wake of the acquisition of Stefon Diggs, Allen has his new “best friend.”

“It creates separation. As a quarterback the more separation the easier the throws are to be made,” Allen said, via Matt Parrino of syracuse.com. “[Diggs] gets open and when you can rely on a guy to just get open, it’s a safety net in my opinion. He’s shown to be able to do this for the few years he’s played in the league. He’s a big-time player, and he’s got the respect of every defense out there. When he can run routes and double move and get open and consistently make plays, that becomes a quarterback’s best friend.”

The Bills paid a hefty price to acquire Diggs' services, sending four first-round selections back Minnesota's way. The former fifth-round selection accrued a career-best 1,130 yards last season, now having reeled off back-to-back years with 1,000-yard campaigns.

His acquisition gives Allen not only a receiver capable of significant separation but a complementary weapon to John Brown, who broke out for more than 1,000 receiving yards last season.

The aggressiveness of the move to nab Diggs is an indication from Buffalo's front office of the window that the team believes that it has. With Tom Brady having departed New England, the AFC East is as open as it has been in two decades. Allen is hoping that Diggs can step right in and help propel the Bills to their first division crown since 1995.
