The Buffalo Bills seemed poised to make their first Super Bowl since the 1993 season, only to run in a brick wall called the Kansas City Chiefs. Following Sunday's devastating loss to the Chiefs, Josh Allen revealed what led to the Bills coming up short in taking down the reigning Super Bowl champions.

“When you don’t play your A-game against a team that shows up every game and plays their A-game, it’s hard to win that way,” Allen said during his Monday press conference, via ProFootballTalk. “They had a really good plan for what we did. They’re in the Super Bowl for a reason. They found a way and we didn’t and that’s the end of the story.”

Leading up to the AFC Championship Game, the Bills were rolling on the offensive side of the ball. Aside from the somewhat quiet game against the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round, Buffalo had scored 27 or more points in five of their last six games.

Most importantly, Allen was nearly perfect through the air, throwing for 4,544 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in the regular season. However, against the Chiefs, Allen was seemingly unprepared for Kansas City's blitz-heavy approach on defense.

Allen would complete 58.3 percent of his 48 attempts on Sunday, which was the third-worst mark of the season for the former first-round pick. He would also throw an interception while taking multiple sacks that lost a total of 53 yards.

The Bills had arguably the worst performance of the season at the most inopportune time against the Chiefs. With that being said, Allen can use Sunday's loss as fuel moving forward, now knowing what it takes to reach the Super Bowl.
