Veteran running back LeSean McCoy, entering his fifth season with the franchise, believes he's “the guy” for the Buffalo Bills.

McCoy, 31, was traded to Buffalo in March 2015 after signing a five-year contract worth $40 million. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound back enters his final contract year with the Bills in 2019, but that won't prevent “Shady” from resting on his laurels.

Via Chris Brown in BuffaloBills.com:

“I’m the guy. I feel like that. That’s what I’ve been told,” said McCoy. “That’s my every day approach. We’re all a team and trying to help each other out to win games, compete against each other and make each other better. Me and Frank have been competing for years. We train in the offseason and we’re always trying to beat each other. I’m excited for the challenge.”

“There’s always talk about something,” he said. “Whether it’s off the field, on the field. Whether it’s age, my salary, there’s always something. So I learned to use that as motivation. That’s something that Frank has taught me. No matter what goes on they’ll look for the guy with the name or the money. So it motivates me in different ways.”

McCoy, who rounds out the Bills' running-back corps along with Frank Gore and third-round selection Devin Singletary out of FAU in the 2019 NFL Draft, was the cause of speculation that the upstate New York team could move the veteran RB. Shady isn't buying that, however, instead pushing the narrative that he'll be the number one option in the backfield for head coach Sean McDermott, who's been with the Bills since 2017.
Last season for the Bills, McCoy rushed for 514 yards in 14 games, scoring three touchdowns and averaging 3.2 yards per carry.
