According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is unlikely to see the field in his team's Week 3 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings. McCoy suffered a rib injury in their 31-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers last week. He has been considered day-to-day all week, and will probably be reevaluated today before a final decision is made.

The Bills have struggled this year offensively. McCoy, a six-time Pro Bowler, has only run the ball 16 times for 61 yards through the first two weeks. He has also caught five passes for 28 yards. Unfortunately for his team, he has yet to reach the end zone. Chris Ivory and Marcus Murphy will most likely collaborate to divide McCoy's usual touches.

While their loss last week was considerably better than their embarrassing opener against the Baltimore Ravens, the misfortune has continued to follow the Bills. Their veteran cornerback Vontae Davis retired mid-game last week and they'll be without their most dynamic weapons this week. The Vikings are unbeaten and have looked like one of the better teams in the NFL so far, so this matchup will probably be a handful.

On the bright side, the Bills will be able to experiment with head coach Sean McDermott and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier making their defensive calls. McDermott, a former defensive coordinator himself, did a great job calling the shots in the second half last week. Defining their roles defensive coaches will be vital to their improvement. However, in the absence of LeSean McCoy, they'll need more consistency in their passing game as well.
